Yasha Gudzenko is a Theatrical director originally from Kiev. In March 2022, after Russia began the war with Ukraine, she moved to The Netherlands, where she continues her theatrical work.

Her natural research instinct towards evil and war, led her to adapt the works of Willam Goldings ‘Manifest of the survivors’ and ‘Witnessing U’. Both were performed in theatre De Toneelmakerij in Amsterdam.

The performances ‘Go F*ck yourself Russian rocket’ and ‘Take the rubbish out Sasha’, also were presented on the stages of theatres in Amsterdam.

In collaboration with the two theatres Frascati and De Balie, Gudzenko as a director and performer, conducted a series of performative readings of contemporary Ukrainian plays. This Project named ‘Endless February’ has become a platform for uniting Ukrainian professionals with their Dutch colleagues.

Since 2023, she has been founder and artistic director of the United Ukrainian Theatre in Amsterdam. UUTheatre became the first independent theatre platform for professional Ukrainian actors in the Netherlands, to create both independent and joint Dutch-Ukrainian theatrical projects.

Between 2019 and 2022 Yasha was the Artistic Director of the Zaporizhzhia Municipal Theater – Laboratory ‘Vie’ in Ukraine. Here she successfully created the performances ‘Demons’ and ‘Radio Hamlet’.

Alumni of European Theater Convention 2019, 2022 and the BUZZ Youth Theater artists Training Lab 2023 (Germany). Member of Theater Associations of Ukraine.

Yasha was awarded a special prize for director's debut by Theater Members Associations of Ukraine .

She has collaborated with the Wild theater (Kyiv), Kyiv Academic Young People's Theatre, Dnipro Academic Youth theatre, The Royal Danish Theater Copenhagen, Amsterdam theaters De Toneelmakerij, De Balie and Frascati.
